Criminal investigations into the mysterious death of a woman in Liverpool are ongoing. The woman, who was around 70 years old, was found two weeks ago in a garbage bag in Stanley Park, located in the Anfield area. Merseyside police have announced that investigations began following this heartbreaking discovery, and no progress has been made in identifying the woman.
Challenges in Identity Identification
Police officers have removed over 70 names from the list of suspects after receiving various reports from local residents. Additionally, over 600 homes have been visited, and footage has been obtained from 30 CCTV cameras, but no signs of the woman's identity have emerged. According to assessments, it appears her body may have been in the park for weeks.
Forensic tests have successfully created a DNA profile, but unfortunately, this profile does not match any names in the national database. The woman in question is described as white, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, with strawberry blonde hair. At the time of discovery, she was wearing a pink Nike t-shirt, and police have urged the public to provide information if they recognize her.
Police Appeal to the Public
Detective Sergeant John Fitzgerald, the lead investigator, stated: "Our investigations are ongoing, and we are determined to identify the woman and find the person or persons responsible for this murder. We urge anyone who witnessed suspicious behavior in the Stanley Park area in recent weeks to contact us. Additionally, those who have used drones in the area are asked to review their footage."
Furthermore, the head of the major incidents team at Merseyside Police, Detective Sergeant Rachel Wilson, said: "This is a shocking crime. We ask residents in the area to inform us of any information they may have, even if it seems insignificant at first."
