Charlotte, one of the residents of the Big Brother house, spoke about her challenges during her entrance on Sunday and expressed her feelings after deciding to remove her prosthetic legs.
Shoe Crisis at the Opening Show
Viewers were shocked by the lack of accessibility at the opening show, which posed challenges for the 18-year-old student from Oxford, who lost her hands and legs due to meningitis at the age of three. Charlotte was supposed to come on stage with the help of an assistant like the other 15 housemates, but a few seconds after being introduced to the audience, she lost one of her shoes.
As the show's host, Will Best, quickly approached her and tried to help her put her high-heeled shoe back on, another problem arose. Charlotte instructed Will to remove her prosthetic legs while the camera switched to images of other house residents.
Self-Confidence and Positive Reaction
In a diary video she shared on Instagram last night, Charlotte explained that she faced a broken heel and stated that she usually takes her legs off at home. She said, "When I got out of the car, my heel broke. Maybe it was my fate to enter without legs."
However, she looked at this experience with a positive spirit and said, "I am in the Big Brother house without legs!" These words created excitement among her fans. Many expressed their love and admiration for her direct and strong approach.
It is worth mentioning that before Charlotte's entrance into the house, the producers collaborated with her and an accessibility coordinator to understand her needs and make the necessary arrangements for her entrance and stay in the house. Additionally, modifications were made to the house to accommodate her accessibility needs.
This season of Big Brother also includes several other disabled participants, all striving for the £100,000 prize.
