Chris Cantrell, the 42-year-old writer for SNL UK, has recently won the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award for his show titled Rewilding. Recognized as one of the new faces in comedy, he plans to use the £10,000 prize to repair his fireplace. But that’s not all; he has also planned a family trip and can now go on it with peace of mind.
Family Trip After Major Success
Chris stated in an interview with reporters, "It’s been a really intense time, so we planned a nice holiday for ourselves. We haven’t traveled abroad since our son was very young, but now we will be going in October." He happily explains that with his prize, he can start a new project called Fireplace Repair. This hardworking writer took a 24-hour break after finishing his show in Edinburgh and then returned to the SNL writers' room.
Challenges in the World of Comedy
Cantrell, who has been heavily involved in the world of comedy throughout his career, is looking to have his son participate in one of the SNL recordings. He lovingly talks about his son's interest in Warhammer and says, "He sent me a picture of a Warhammer model he painted and asked, can you show it to Jack Sheppard?" This reflects his deep connection with his family and his efforts to promote his son's interests in the world of comedy.
Besides his success at the awards, Chris is also concerned about newspaper reviews. He smiles and says, "Reviews are important, but in the end, they are just one opinion. I advise newcomers to use them as a tool for improvement."
In the end, Cantrell expresses his happiness that his family is with him, saying, "This festival is beautiful and crazy. It has been incredibly intense, but also magical."
