NetherRealm Studios, the video game developer, appears to be preparing for the release of Injustice 3, a project that has been rumored for years. These speculations have been bolstered by the release of a now-deleted post that asked individuals to participate in a 2D AAA game test.
Shifting Priorities at NetherRealm Studios
Last year, NetherRealm Studios announced that it would no longer continue to provide new content for Mortal Kombat 1 and instead would focus on its next project. The assumption that this new project may be a new entry in the DC Comics fighting game series is particularly understandable given the long-standing rumors surrounding Injustice 3.

Game Testing and Signs
Reports indicate that this Injustice sequel is currently in testing, which could lead to an announcement in the near future. Information about this testing was obtained from a post in the Good Gamer Group, which conducts private tests under a non-disclosure agreement for upcoming video games. At the time of this news release, no other fighting game fitting this description has been announced.
According to available information, this testing is taking place in the United States, particularly in California. This clearly indicates that this fighting game comes from an American developer, and since NetherRealm has almost exclusively worked on 2D AAA games, this choice seems the most obvious.
In recent years, two voice actors from Injustice have also informally mentioned that they have done voice recording work for Injustice 3. While a DC-themed game called DCKO is planned for 2027, this game will be a free mobile game and cannot be considered a AAA title.
Ultimately, the future of this project and whether it will indeed be Injustice 3 remains uncertain. Given the statements from James Gunn, CEO of DC Studios, about the desire to create synergy between DC games and films, this series may undergo fundamental changes.
