A United States Air Force pilot known as "Bravo" described the moments of his rescue in a complex and challenging operation involving 21 aircraft. This operation was conducted following the downing of his plane and another one of his comrades in Iran. Bravo and his comrade, referred to as mission "Alpha," were forced to flee from Iranian forces after the incident.
Details of the Downing and Escape
The two American servicemen were ejected from their aircraft after it was shot down and landed approximately five miles apart in a mountainous area south of Isfahan. Meanwhile, Iranian forces were searching for them. Bravo, who sustained serious injuries to his back, shoulder, and arm in the incident, described his rescue as a "miracle." In an interview, he stated that after the crash, he hit the ground at a speed of between 70 and 100 miles per hour.

Rescue Experience
He continued, "When I looked up at the sky and saw no parachute, that was the scariest moment I have ever experienced. So at that moment, I stopped and prayed: 'Lord, let Your will be done. But if I am to get through this, I need help.'" He also added, "This is a testament to God's provision in my life that carried me through that moment in a way that prevented serious injuries, but kept me from any other acute injuries that could have affected my ability to survive."
While Bravo was fleeing from Iranian forces, Alpha was also trying to secure his own rescue. Alpha, who refrained from speaking to the media, informally stated, "Words cannot express my gratitude and that of my family, and how proud I am to serve alongside each of them."
Bravo was rescued after spending 48 hours behind enemy lines. The two-seater F-15E aircraft, valued at £22 million, was shot down by a missile fired from a shoulder launcher. Alpha was also rescued within six hours during an operation that involved intense fighting. Pete Hegseth, the United States Secretary of Defense, stated, "It was a battle all the way through.
