Community Reaction and Support
While formal identification has not yet taken place, Superintendent Tom Pearce informed hundreds of volunteers about this heartbreaking discovery. Since then, flowers and tributes have been placed near the playground on Merriam Street in memory of Noah. A fundraising campaign to support Noah's family raised nearly £16,000 within hours.
The support group Dads Club, Good Dads Club, stated: "In light of the news regarding 3-year-old Noah Woods, the Good Dads Club asks our community to do whatever they can to lighten the heavy burden on his family during this heartbreaking time."
Reece Woods, Noah's father, expressed gratitude to the search teams in a social media post and urged people not to lose hope and to keep searching. He said, "I can't spend another night thinking he is out there alone."
The child's body was discovered in a pond in Brentham, approximately 300 meters from where he was reported to have escaped. The search efforts included helicopters, volunteers, police, and coast guard teams, and residents were asked to check doorbell camera footage, gardens, and any areas where the small child might have hidden.
However, the large search came to an end after the discovery in the pond, which is surrounded by trees and located next to a newly built neighborhood. Superintendent Pearce, his voice breaking with emotion, paid tribute to Noah's family and "everyone who knew him."
The local council of Brentham stated: "Our thoughts are with Noah's family, friends, and anyone who knows and loves him during this very difficult time."
