Charlie Morgan, the ball boy who gained global attention in 2013 for being kicked by Eden Hazard during a football match, has now successfully sold his vodka brand for an astonishing £300 million.
Success in the Alcohol Industry
Morgan, who was only 17 at the time of the incident, is now 31 years old and has become one of the prominent figures in the alcohol industry with his brand Au Vodka, established in Swansea. This brand, founded in 2015 by Morgan and his partner, Jackson Quinn, is now recognized as one of the premium brands globally.
Deal with an American Beverage Giant
According to reports, the American company Sazerac, one of the largest beverage producers in the world, has acquired the Au Vodka brand. Although the financial details of the deal have not been officially announced, estimates suggest that its value is around £300 million.
The brand is known for its unique golden bottle design and has been supported by famous personalities such as Floyd Mayweather and Ronaldinho over the years. The rapid growth of the company, following an investment from DJ Charlie Sloth, has also been notable, and now more than 80 people are employed in South Wales for this company.
Jake Wentz, CEO of Sazerac, commented on the acquisition: “We have been incredibly impressed by the remarkable growth of Au Vodka since its inception in Swansea. What Charlie, Jackson, and Charlie have achieved in less than a decade is extraordinary and rare, and we have big plans for Au.”
Morgan also stated, “We started this business with a simple idea and a belief that vodka shouldn’t be boring, and we are proud that it has now become one of the transformative brands of this generation.”
With this acquisition, Au Vodka will join a portfolio of over 500 brands under Sazerac, including BuzzBallz and Southern Comfort.
