Max Daumen, Arsenal's teenage star, scored two goals in this match, demonstrating that Arteta's team possesses high attacking strength. Arteta showcased his team's power and depth by making nine changes to the lineup that won against Sunderland last week.
However, Arteta faces a significant challenge in defense. William Saliba, who suffered a back injury during the World Cup, still has no clear return date. Additionally, Christian Mosquera, who was injured in the victory over Aston Villa, has been absent for the last four matches. Ben White was also substituted in the first half of the match against Ipswich due to injury, with Jurrien Timber replacing him after recently returning from a long absence.
Challenges Ahead for Arteta
Piero Hincapié, who was considered the primary option for the left-back position, could not participate in this match due to a muscular issue. This allowed Arteta to deploy Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back. The Arsenal head coach noted that several players, including Hincapié, need rest due to fatigue and physical issues.
Arteta stated, "With some players, they had real fatigue and issues that we need to pay attention to. There are other players who are fresh and in better condition to play." However, reports indicate that Hincapié has joined Arsenal's injured defenders, and his status for the match against Brighton remains uncertain.
Max Daumen's good performance in this match has increased Arteta's hopes of utilizing him in the Premier League. In response to a question about the possibility of Daumen becoming a permanent player in the team, Arteta said, "Anything is possible, but the likelihood is probably very low, as young players typically face physical challenges in games."
Arteta acknowledged Daumen's abilities, adding, "Every time he has had the opportunity, he has performed well, and he needs to continue this progress."
