BlizzCon finally made a comeback, and Blizzard reassured its fans that it is still active as a subsidiary of Microsoft by introducing a large number of new games. Nostalgia and Innovation Coincide
The return of BlizzCon showcased a special feeling of nostalgia and new beginnings at the opening ceremony. Blizzard is celebrating its thirty-fifth anniversary in the gaming industry, and Overwatch has reached its tenth anniversary. Some of the company’s oldest franchises continue to thrive once again.

After years of speculation about Blizzard's future following its acquisition by Microsoft, it now feels like the company is looking for new ways to leverage the worlds it has been building for years. One of the biggest reveals was the game World Of Warcraft: Forever, which takes fans back to the early days of this game but with a big twist. Instead of simply recreating the original version, this game includes three new zones, over 1000 quests, nine dungeons, and two new raids along with a new race called Skyborne.
New Surprises and Developments
This version of World Of Warcraft reminds fans what attracted them to this game, but this time the developers have the license to change the story's timeline as well. Notably, this promise is not far off, as the game's beta will begin on September 17, and the full version will be released on November 4.
In a conversation with Nora Mills, Senior Software Engineer, and Tim Jones, Lead Game Designer, they discussed the new features of this game and how to create a new community for players. Mills noted, "The friendships formed through this game can last for years, and this moment is especially exciting because we are starting from scratch."
Additionally, Warcraft 3: Reforged has also received a major update that includes graphic improvements and a world editor. A new story called The Forsaken Kingdom is also in development, revolving around the fall of Lordaeron and the creation of Undercity.
Starcraft also received an overwhelming response from fans, even though its return as an open-world shooter was unexpected. This new game will be released in spring 2030. Meanwhile, Diablo will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary next year, and Blizzard has taken a dark and bold story approach by announcing Diablo 5 for this celebration.
Blizzard is developing a series of Diablo animations for Netflix, showing that it is looking to expand its worlds beyond games. These efforts clearly demonstrate the company's desire to capitalize on past successes and create new and engaging content.
