Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) currently has no desire to think about Dawn Taylor's (Olivia Bromley) funeral, as he has just lost his true love. After Jimmy King (Nick Miles) crashed his car into a wedding tent, Joe and Dawn were taken to the hospital. While it seemed that Dawn had relatively survived the incident and the subsequent explosion, she experienced a premature birth due to the conditions she faced. This situation raised concerns, but her newborn son remained healthy.
Joe's grief and loneliness
Everything seemed hopeful for Joe and Dawn, but reality showed that a disaster awaited them. When Joe went out of Dawn's room to get water, she fell asleep, and Joe realized that Dawn had passed away in her sleep. This incident caused Joe to be unable to properly support Dawn's children and drown in his own grief. He informed Chas and Lucas that they would be going to Billy Fletcher's (Jay Kontzle) house and would no longer be at the farm with him and Evan.
Joe's attempts to control the situation
In today's episode, Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) visited Kim Tate (Claire King) to discuss Dawn's funeral. Joe then entered and announced that Dawn would be buried on the farm grounds and that Charles and the church would have no involvement in this matter. However, he later told Kim that she needed to speak with Charles and arrange the ceremony through him. While he was extremely nervous, he declared that he would be the only one present at Dawn's farewell ceremony and banned Billy and the children from attending.
Danger for Ruby
Given Joe's mental state, it is clear that the day of Dawn's funeral will not be a time for reflection and emotional farewell for him. He continues to try to harm Caleb and Ruby Milligan (William Ash and Beth Cordingly) and believes they are the reason for Dawn's death. In upcoming episodes, Joe will gleefully inform Caleb that his wife is in danger. Caleb will demand answers from Joe, who will eventually reveal that he has buried Ruby alive in a coffin. Will Caleb be able to find Ruby before it's too late?
