Joao Pedro, the Chelsea football team forward, has withdrawn from the Brazil national team camp due to an injury issue. The player, who started the new season with three goals and three assists, contributed a valuable point for Chelsea with a late goal in their last match against Hull City.
Pedro's Brilliant Performance in the New Season
Pedro, who joined Chelsea from Brighton last summer, has scored three goals and provided three assists in his first five games for Chelsea. In his last match against Hull City, he managed to equalize with a late goal, while Chelsea had lost to Arsenal the week before.
This Brazilian forward missed Chelsea's training on Tuesday due to his injury and will therefore not participate in the upcoming trip to Brentford for Friday's match. Pedro, who was left out of the Brazil national team for the World Cup last summer due to poor performance, had been recalled to the national team due to his good form.
Replacement for Pedro in the National Team
The Brazilian Football Federation confirmed that Joao Pedro has withdrawn from the friendly matches against Australia and India due to injury. Martinelli, a player from Fluminense, has been called up as his replacement. This change comes as the Brazil national team prepares for two friendly matches during the FIFA international window.
In Pedro's absence, Danny Welbeck, the Chelsea forward, may start in Friday night's game against Brentford. Additionally, Reece James and Moises Caicedo were also absent from part of Tuesday's training. James has played as a central midfielder in three of Chelsea's four matches and continued without injury in the last game. However, Caicedo has yet to find an opportunity to start a game this season.
Caicedo missed Chelsea's opening league match against Fulham and returned to the bench for the next game against Brighton, but had to leave the field after just 14 minutes and was also absent from the subsequent matches against Arsenal and Hull City.
Injury Status and Alonso's Hopes
Xabi Alonso, Chelsea's head coach, stated in a pre-match interview that he hopes Caicedo will be ready for the trip to the G-Tech Stadium, but emphasized: "We are not in a position to take risks yet. Not yet; we still have time." These comments reflect concerns regarding the injury status of Chelsea players.
