Cineworld, one of the largest cinema chains in the UK, has created a wave of dissatisfaction among its customers with new changes to its membership policies. These changes, which came into effect on September 15, do not allow Unlimited members to reserve tickets for family and friends who also have Unlimited memberships.

Immediately after the news broke, Cineworld members reacted strongly and emotionally on social media, with many threatening to go to cinemas like Odeon or Vue. Others expressed concern that these changes could lead to conflict and tension among viewers.

A large number of members described this decision as "the dumbest decision of the year" and stated that with these changes, friendly groups cannot sit together.
Why are Unlimited Members Dissatisfied?
The Unlimited membership at Cineworld allows viewers to watch as many films as they want for a monthly fee of £12.99. Additionally, members benefit from a 10% discount on snacks and drinks and access to new films. However, with the new rules, members must apply for each ticket separately, which could lead to groups being separated during film viewing.
Cineworld is trying to improve the customer experience by enhancing its website and app, promising that the ability to change seats will be available until the film starts. However, many customers still express dissatisfaction with these changes, believing that these measures are not enough.
In one comment, a user on social media X wrote: "You have no planning for this issue. In a busy show, tickets fill up quickly, and there is no possibility to change locations."
These changes will also create more problems for some viewers, especially those who come to the cinema with special needs. One parent expressed concern on social media X that their child, who has a disability, cannot get a ticket due to the need for special space.
