John Bishop, the 59-year-old British comedian, has canceled all his tour dates in the United States and Canada due to a motorbike accident that resulted in an ankle injury. The incident, which occurred during a ride with astronaut Tim Peake, prevented Bishop from undertaking long-haul flights, forcing him to cancel his tour.
Details of the Incident and Its Consequences
Bishop announced in a post on social media platform X that he has a broken ankle and needs a large boot for recovery. In this post, he told his fans: "One of the consequences of breaking your ankle is that you have to wear this boot for six weeks." The comedian added, referring to the difficulties caused by this injury: "When you wear this boot, you can't take long flights, and therefore, the tours I was supposed to do in October in Canada and America have to be canceled."
Bishop also apologized to his fans, saying: "This is a message to apologize to everyone for the cancellation of these shows, as I obviously cannot fly." Earlier this month, he was hospitalized due to this incident and also had to withdraw from a charity event for prostate cancer that he was supposed to hold with Chris Hoy.
Waiting for Tour Rescheduling
Despite these challenges, John Bishop hopes to set new dates for his tour. His tour included six shows between October 15 and 25 in New York City, Boston, Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto. He assured his fans that as soon as he recovers, he will do everything possible to reschedule these shows.
Bishop humorously told his fans at the end of his remarks: "I'm sorry, but according to medical advice, I shouldn't ride a motorbike like an idiot again." This comedian, who has recently gained more fame in the United States due to a film called "Is This Thing On?", sees new challenges ahead based on his experiences in this area.
This film, which tells the story of his life, is directed by Bradley Cooper and stars Laura Dern as the comedian's wife. Bishop said about it: "It was a very surreal experience, and being on the red carpet with my family gave me a strange feeling." He humorously added, recalling a memory of his children: "My sons told me: 'Dad, please don't be an idiot! Everyone on the red carpet has to be cool, so don't smile like a contest winner!'"
